DEVELOPMENTAL MILESTONES

Developmental Milestones

Children achieve milestones in their play, learning, speech, behavior, and physical abilities as they grow. These milestones serve as important markers to assess a child’s development. Although every child is special and develops at their own pace, the following age-based milestones are commonly observed in childhood. If your child experiences delays, it may be beneficial to seek an evaluation for further guidance.

Child milestones are developmental achievements that children typically reach within certain age ranges. While each child develops at their own pace, here are some common milestones observed in different areas of development:

  • ZCrawling (around 7-10 months)
  • ZStanding with support (around 8-10 months)
  • ZWalking independently (around 12-15 months)
  • ZClimbing stairs (around 18-24 months)
  • ZJumping with both feet (around 2-3 years)

Social and Emotional Milestones:

  • ZSmiling and responding to social interactions (around 2-3 months)
  • ZRecognizing familiar faces (around 6-9 months)
  • ZShowing affection and forming attachments (around 9-12 months)
  • ZEngaging in parallel play (playing alongside other children without direct interaction) (around 1-2 years)
  • ZDemonstrating empathy and sharing with others (around 2-3 years)
  • ZParticipating in cooperative play and making friends (around 3-4 years)

Cognitive and Language Milestones:

  • ZMaking eye contact and following objects with their eyes (around 2-3 months)
  • ZBabbling and making various sounds (around 6-9 months)

  • ZCombining words into short sentences (around 2 years)

Remember, these milestones are general guidelines, and there is a wide range of normal development. If you have concerns about your child’s development or notice significant delays, it’s recommended to consult with a healthcare professional for an evaluation.
